Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority was established to improve the standards for our children in child welfare by enhancing their protection, safety and rights while ensuring Anishinabee customary care practices are recognized and respected by all levels of governance dealing with Child Welfare. We work to create and implement our own Wabaseemoong Customary Child Care Law.

Our Children are Our Future
As taught by the Creator, we must ensure every child will be raised within the holistic caring circle of parents, extended family and community. Customary practices and customs will be recognized and respected and based on the universal laws of Anishinabemowin.

RESOURCES
This service delivery model reflects the Wabaseemoong Customary Care Code finalized in 2017. The sole purpose and vision of the Code and this service delivery model is to embody and promote the traditional value system of Wabaseemoong Independent Nations, and to ensure that all children remain connected to their families, culture, value system, homeland, and waters.
A Code of the Wabaseemoong Independent Nations adopted under the authority of the Inherent powers of the Wabaseemoong Independent Nations for the purposes of establishing a Community Code for the safety and security of our children and as an additional enactment of law arising from the Abinoojii lnakonigewin.
Customary Adoption Rules of the Wabaseemoong Independent First Nations adopted under the Inherent authority of the First Nations for the purposes of establishing policy and procedures for the safety and security of our children in accordance to and as an additional enactment of Policy ascending from the Wabaseemoong Customary Care Code and the Abinojiin lnakonigewin.
